SynQor Adds 12V/7A Surface-Mount POL Converter

New Products Jan 25, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

SynQor Inc. has added the NQ10W50PKA07 series to its non-isolated, NiQor product line. This new dc-dc converter delivers a full 7A of output current and is designed for use as a point-of-load (POL) converter in intermediate bus architecture (IBA) applications. The NQ10W50PKA07 reduces output noise by as much as 75%, and provides up to 5% higher efficiency.

These converters have a 10.2V to 13.2V input voltage range and a 0.75V to 5.0V output voltage range. The modules are up to 94% efficient and can supply the full rated output of 7.0A up to 85 degrees C with 100LFM (0.5m/s) of airflow. These POLs measure 0.232" high X 0.4" wide X 0.9 deep.

The NQ10W50PKA07 is available in four different variations, including a discontinuous mode to achieve high conversion efficiency at both low and high output voltages, or a forced continuous mode to achieve an extremely fast transient response and low output voltage ripple. Both modes have an option to use an internal reference point, which provides 5% margining using digital input signals, or an external reference point, which allows custom voltages to be set using an external reference voltage.

Standard control and protection features include On/Off control positive logic, input UVLO, remote sense, foldback current limit and short circuit protection, and thermal shutdown.

Sample and production quantities are available immediately with a stock to 8-week lead-time. The modules are priced at $15.70 in OEM quantities.
