ST Presents µPSD3300 Series Microcontrollers
STMicroelectronics Inc. (ST, Geneva, Switzerland) introduced the Turbo µPSD3300 Series of its µPSD family of 8051-class, embedded flash microcontrollers. The µPSD family offers system-level-integration with Flash and SRAM densities (up to 256KB and 32KB, respectively) for general-purpose, eight-bit microcontrollers. The Turbo µPSD3300 Series increases performance to 10MIPS peak, and adds a rich peripheral set to form a suitable system on chip for embedded control applications.
A few of the enhancements for the new Turbo µPSD3300 Series include a 16-bit programmable counter array, 10-bit resolution ADC channels, and SPI and IrDA interfaces. Microcontroller performance is kept near its 10MIP peak thanks to an instruction pre-fetch queue and a branching cache. In addition, the µPSD3300 JTAG in-system programming interface was enhanced to support JTAG emulation, thus eliminating the need for a hardware, in-circuit emulator.
The µPSD3300 devices are sampling now with volume production planned for late fourth-quarter 2003 in 52-pin and 80-pin TQFP packages, with an industrial operating temperature from -40°C to +85°C at 5.0V and 3.3V. Now sampling, volume production is planned for late fourth-quarter 2003 in 52-pin and 80-pin TQFP packages. The µPSD3333D-40T6 is priced at $6.39 per 1,000 units.
