Smart Controller for LED Strip Lighting

May 03, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

FuturoLighting has added the Catherina CTRL smart LED controller. This controller has implemented movement, ambient sensors as well as dimming, fading, day/night detection, corridor delay and intensity adjustment. It has compact dimensions of 55x55x14 mm and pass to each new or existing kitchen or room where automatic light switching at person presence is required. The controller supports constant voltage LED modules and LED strips with supply voltage from 12 to 24 Vdc.

With the implementation of a high sensitive PIR detector, Catherina behaves autonomously. Luminaire electronics distinguish between day and night, meaning the user can precisely select the threshold value for minimal ambient light, (the point when you need artificial illumination).

If the ambient light is below this threshold level (getting dark), and movement is detected, light is continuously increased and switched on. After approximately 30 seconds, when there is no movement, it is slowly faded-out and finally switched off. Thanks to advanced LED technology, Catherina offers almost homogeneous lighting over the whole projection area with minimal power requirements and life expectancy above 50, 000 hours.

Catherina could save more than 60% on electricity consumption compared to halogen and fluorescent light sources and is environmental friendly (no mercury content, and compliance with RoHS directives). Catherina requires NO maintenance other than normal dusting/cleaning during whole product life.
