October 19, 2011 by Jeff Shepard

SMA Solar Technology AG is expanding its product portfolio with a new micro inverter. The new Sunny Boy 240 is especially suited to rooftop plants in the power class of up to 2 kilowatts. It will be available by the middle of 2012. With the new micro inverter, SMA expands its product portfolio in the low power class. The global market leader is the only manufacturer offering inverters for plants of all power classes from watt to megawatt.

"With our new Sunny Boy 240 energy losses are minimized even with highly complex roof geometries", explained Alfred Karlstetter, Director Sales Germany SMA Medium Power Solutions.

The new micro inverter has been developed mainly for the U.S. market, but can be used worldwide. It is especially applicable for small and micro plants, plants with complex shadowing situations, and building integration. The Sunny Boy 240 offers high flexibility in the planning of small plants in the power class of up to 2 kilowatts, and may be combined with all other SMA devices. SMA’s micro inverter features an innovative safety concept as well as intelligent panel failure detection and is easy to install.
