Sipex Intros New SP6648 Boost Regulator
Sipex Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced the newest addition to its portfolio of power management products with the SP6648. The new device is suitable for battery-powered devices such as PDAs, digital cameras, MP3 players and other consumer products.
The SP6648 consumes 12uA of quiescent current while delivering up to 400mA output current. The device automatically switches from pulse-width modulation to pulse-frequency modulation under light load conditions. The SP6648 features programmable peak current, low battery detect and power shutdown control; a 94 percent efficiency rating; and 3.3V fixed output with a 2.5V to 5V adjustable output range.
The SP6648 is available now in a small, 10-pin, MSOP package, and is priced at $0.99 in 100,000-piece quantities. An evaluation board is also available to assist in the characterization and design.
