Single-Chip 65W Buck/Boost USB Type-C Charger with Integrated FETs
Silicon Mitus, Inc. launched SM58IP04, a single-chip buck-boost USB Type-C Narrow VDC (NVDC) charger targeting 2S/3S and 4S battery applications.
The charger can be used in devices that take full advantage of the new USB Type-C features embedded in the latest PD3.0 specifications including PPS and Fast Role Swap.

With integrated FETs and a high level of logic on-chip, the SM58IP04, Silicon Mitus specifically designed the charger for high efficiency and integration to deliver up to 65W of power in the smallest form factor.
According to the company, the charger reduces the PCB surface area by more than 50% and the Z-height profile to less than 1.2mm.
With the help of advanced thermal management, it achieves up to 95% efficiency while in either buck- or boost-mode charging of the battery up to 6A. It supports both direct and parallel charging, cell balancing, and Intel IMVP8. Multiple currents, voltage sensing, and OVP features are integrated.

The device comes in a 77 Pin WLCSP package, and samples are now available.
