New Products Dec 19, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

SFI Electronics Technology Inc. (Taiwan) announced its new ML and MH Series of multilayer chip varistors, offered in 0402 to 2220 case sizes. These zinc-oxide-based ceramic devices fit high-density circuit assemblies. They also exhibit low inductance and quick response.

The varistor voltage is rated at 2.5Vrms to 7Vrms, 3.3Vdc to 9Vdc. The energy rating is specified at up to 8.8J. The varistors handle peak currents up to 1kA, with a breakdown current of 110mA and a breakdown voltage of 121V.

The ML Series devices are targeted at television receivers, while the MH Series varistors are for advanced automotive electronics applications.
