Schaefer Intros C5400 Series Power Converters

April 18, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Schaefer Inc. (Ashland, MA) introduced the C5400 Series of 10kW, 7in, standard 19in rack, dc/dc and ac/dc converters. Applications include locomotive controls, communications and charging equipment, telecommunications systems, process control systems, and power stations for direct load sourcing in addition to battery charging.

The C5400 Series is available in five dc-input ranges from 80Vdc to 800Vdc as well as three ac-input ranges from 160V to 530V. Units can also be supplied with an external power-factor correction module offering additional input ranges. Single outputs are available in eight ranges from 24Vdc to 400Vdc. All outputs are adjustable and fully regulated to 0.2 percent or better (load) and 0.1 percent (line). All units in the C5400 Series have remote sensing, over-voltage protection and current limiting on the output. Efficiencies run up to 95 percent depending on the model and the load. The operating temperature is -20 to +75 degrees C, with optional operation down to -40 degrees C.

Pricing is from $5,530 each for 100 pieces. Delivery is 8 to 10 weeks ARO.
