Raychem Presents SMD Family of PolySwitch Devices
Raychem Circuit Protection, a unit of Tyco Electronics, announced that its SMD family of PolySwitch resettable devices is now available as lead-free components. Designed for use in portable electronics, computers and peripherals, telecom equipment, and automotive applications, the SMD product family line includes nanoSMD, microSMD and miniSMD C-design devices. Characterized by small size and a wide range of current and voltage options, the surface-mount devices help provide resettable circuit protection in applications where conserving board space is a critical design factor.
The new lead-free SMD devices meet the same specifications as their standard counterparts. They are capable of withstanding the higher melting temperatures associated with lead solder alternatives, and can also be installed using current reflow profiles, facilitating migration to lead-free manufacturing and assembly. Component solderability meets standard industry specifications, including J-STD-002.
The lead-free SMD devices are available in tape-and-reel packages and are shipped in moisture barrier bags. The price range is from $0.15 to $0.25 for 100,000 per year based on part number. Samples are available now. Delivery is four weeks lead time ARO for most part numbers.
