Powerstax Debuts A2000 Series AC-DC Power Supplies

November 09, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Powerstax plc (formerly Advanced Power Conversion plc, Farnborough, England) debuted its new A2000 Series of 19 in rack-mount, configurable ac-dc power supplies, which provide multi-output "custom" power solutions without the normal customization costs and extended lead times. The A2000 Series employs a modular construction using standard products from the Powerstax range. Over 46,000 possible output configurations, up to 12 isolated and adjustable outputs with total power up to 2,000 W are available, enabling power supply designers to meet special power architecture requirements with reduced design time and costs.

In a 2U high, 19 in rack-mount package that is 350 mm deep, the A2000 provides up to 2,000 W regulated single or multi-output dc supplies from a universal mains supply of 90 Vac to 253 Vac. It is possible to individually margin, enable, parallel, or stack the outputs to provide a variety of power solutions. Additional features include zero-load operation and fully floating outputs that have standard voltage ranges from 1.45 V to 28 V, and include a 5 V bias supply at 50 mA. Designed for EN61000-3-2 compliance and meeting Class B conducted emissions, the A2000 Series is suitable for the communications, industrial, instrumentation, and test and measurement markets.

Dependent upon specification, pricing for the A2000 Series starts from $579 each for 50-piece quantities, with lead times from four weeks.
