Polar Power Launches M2 Charger Controller

May 28, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Polar Power Inc. (Carson, CA) recently launched its new M2 charger controller, designed for applications where the load cannot tolerate the electric noise typical of most charge controllers. The M2 provides up to nine months of data-logging capability. Control set points can be changed via a cellular phone and modem or download via computer. Users can select their own charge control algorithm and temperature compensation curve. The M2 is rated for -40 to 85 degrees C and contains a 16-bit AMD 188ES microprocessor.

Features of the M2 charger controller include a watchdog timer with automatic reset, a real-time clock, and a 12-bit A/D for voltage and current measurements. The M2 also has high isolation, voltage measurement circuitry, two RS232 ports, and two latching 10A relays. Additional features include automatic load disconnect and reconnect and switch closure inputs for timed load operation.

Polar Power cites a price of $395 for the M2 charger controller, in single quantity.
