Phihong Announces External 37W 4-Channel LED Driver with Standard DimmingApril 26, 2012 by Jeff Shepard
Phihong USA has developed a new multi-channel driver for indoor and outdoor lighting applications. Designated the PDA037W-350G, the driver is equipped with four outputs of 350mA and offers 0-10V dimming capability. Well suited for linear fluorescent replacement fixtures, the power supply satisfies all ENERGY STAR requirements governing power supplies in solid-state lighting luminaires.
"The new 37W driver is ideal for overhead LED lighting fixtures in new green construction, as well as for users who wish to lower their long-term energy costs," said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong USA. "Solid-state lighting requires less power than fluorescent and can offer long lasting lighting and increased savings."
The power supply is equipped with four constant current outputs of 350mA at a nominal output voltage of 24.5VDC. With an ac input range of 90 to 304Vac, the driver can be operated at the standard North American mains voltages of 120 or 277Vac for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. The driver bears safety approval from UL, meeting UL8750, and has outputs that are Class 2 per UL1310, making it appropriate for linear fluorescent replacement installations.
Rated for operation between 0 and 50°C, the PDA037W is water resistant and fully potted with ingress protection ratings of 65. The driver also exhibits high efficiency and reliability, with minimum efficiency ratings ranging from 82% at 120Vac input to over 84% at 277Vac input. The calculated lifetime of the PDA037W is 50K hours at full load and an ambient 50°C.
The new LED driver comes fully equipped with input over-current protection and short-circuit protection, as well as output over-voltage protection and open-circuit protection. It also features a minimum power factor correction greater than 0.9.
Designed to be easily incorporated into retrofit fixtures in office lighting and other commercial overhead installations, the series measures 242 x 43.5 x 30.5mm and weighs 675g.
