PDI Releases Improvements for Wave Star Static Switch, Power Distribution Unit, Remote Power Panel

July 20, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Power Distribution Inc. (PDI) announced the release of product improvements to three core product lines. PDI has engineered the Wave Star™ communication package into its Static Transfer Switch (STS). The Power Distribution Unit (PDU) has been reengineered to incorporate PDI's Branch Circuit Monitoring System (BCMS) and the new 8212 local monitor as factory-installed options. Also, PDI has once again added new features and layouts for its Remote Power Panel (RPP) product, which it began doing in 1997.

PDI has been manufacturing the static switch product line for over twelve years, and there have been several generations of improvements during this time. The Wave Star™ communication package incorporates the following improvements to PDI's front access STS: real time waveform capture and graphing; triple redundant power supplies and logic; fail-safe dual redundant display; volt second synchronization algorithm that limits inrush to 1.5 times; and web-enabled TCP/IP, SNMP, and Modbus RTU communications.

The PDI PDU has been a core product of PDI's product line for over 25 years. The latest improvements include the ability to incorporate PDI's patented BCMS and the 8212 Local Monitor as a factory-installed option. The BCMS is available in a current-only version and a voltage version depending on the needs of the site. PDI has also improved the PDU enclosure by adding reinforced panels, two point latches, panelboard vision panels and flush mounted door handles with integrated locks.

PDI has also expanded the number of options and improved the RPP. This product's enclosure has been improved by adding reinforced panels, two point latches, and flush mounted door handles with integrated locks. PDI has introduced the Mission Critical RPP which incorporates a dual feed set up with Branch Circuit Monitoring, a local monitor, and camlok connections to facilitate maintenance.
