ON Semiconductor Offers NCP1050 Regulators

January 20, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

ON Semiconductor (Phoenix, AZ) unveiled the NCP1050 family of off-line switching regulators for power conversion applications below 40W, providing designers with switching frequency and current options and delivering low electromagnetic interference.

The new NCP1050 devices consume less than 250mW during no-load conditions. Typical applications include auxiliary supplies for household appliances, portable battery chargers, cable and DSL modems, consumer electronic stand-by power supplies, and other low-power ac-to-dc converters. The devices combine a 700V power-switch circuit and off-line start-up circuitry for 85Vac to 265Vac power mains. The off-line start-up circuit design facilitates operation without an auxiliary transformer winding and associated components. The NCP1050 family operates with a minimum of external supply components, minimizing power converter cost and size. Each of the devices is available in three internally programmed and trimmed oscillator frequencies of 44kHz, 100kHz and 136kHz

The NCP1050 family is available in a DIP-8 package. The NCP1050P, NCP1051P and NCP1052 have a suggested price of $0.45 per unit in 10,000-unit quantities. The NCP1053P, NCP1054P and NCP1055P have a suggested price of $0.55 per unit in 10,000-unit quantities.
