No Limit on the Number of Grid-Connected PV Inverters

Sanyo Denki Co., Ltd. has developed a 3-phase PV inverter, the SANUPS P73J, that can shorten the installation time of multi-inverter grid-connected systems. It can be safely used outdoors with its IP65 rated waterproof and dustproof performance. The SANUPS P73J supports an unlimited number of grid-connected PV inverters to be operated in parallel in a single system.

This 3-phase inverter includes the industry’s new standard islanding detection method “frequency feedback method with step injection” which supports the connection of multiple units to the grid with virtually no limit on the number. This is a new method for detecting a power outage in the commercial grid in Japan and was developed to enable the installation of large-scale solar systems.

These 10kW high-frequency transformer isolated inverters operate over an input voltage range of 150- to 570-Vdc and produce an output of 202Vac 50/60 Hz. In addition to the active “frequency feedback method with step injection” islanding detection function, these inverters include “voltage phase jump detection” passive islanding detection.

The P73J exempts users from a test required for the grid-connection agreement with power companies, greatly reducing installation costs and time. It is certified by Japan Electrical Safety & Environment Technology Laboratories (JET).
