NJR Presents New NJU8725 Class D Amplifier

May 20, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

New Japan Radio Co. Ltd. (NJR, Japan) introduced its new NJU8725 Class D amplifier, which produces an output of 800mW and features delta-sigma modulation. The device also operates from a 3V to 3.6V supply and is suitable for battery-powered applications.

The new amplifier contains a digital attenuator, mute and de-emphasis circuits. It converts a digital input into a PWM signal output, which is then converted into an analog signal by an external LC low-pass filter. The chip has a sampling frequency of 96kHZ and is shipped in an SSOP24 casing.
