Murata Launches DC2KV GR4 Series Capacitors

New Products Jul 02, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Murata Electronics North America Inc. (Smyrna, GA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Japan), launched its DC2KV GR4 Series of capacitors designed using base-metal, inner-electrode (BME) technology. The high-voltage chip capacitor removes electro-magnetic interference and meets the IEEE802.3 standard, which mandates an electrical isolation of 1,500Vac and/or 2,250Vdc for 60 seconds.

The DC2KV GR4 Series features a capacitance range of 100pF to 2,220pF and stable performance due to the X7R characteristic in which the temperature dependency (fluctuation ratio) of the capacitance is a mere ±15 percent over a temperature range of -55 to +125 degrees C. Since it is surface-mountable, the capacitor requires less mounting space than conventional lead-type capacitors contributing to thinner and more compact network devices such as LANs, wireless LAN access points, and telecommunications switches and routers.

The DC2KV GR4 Series chip capacitor comes in two sizes of 4.5mm x 2.0mm x 2.0mm and 4.5mm x 3.2mm x 2.0mm, and is available starting at $0.15 per 100,000 pieces, with a lead time of eight weeks.
