Murata Debuts PRG21 Series PTC Thermistors

Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Japan) debuted its PRG21 Series of ceramic PTC thermistors with a multi-layered structure. Using this technology, the company has begun mass production of the small PTC thermistor (0805 EIA size) with circuit protection. The PRG21 Series measures 2 mm x 1.25 mm x 0.9 mm and provides a resistance of 0.2 Ohms with a non-operating current of 0.5 A at an ambient temperature of 60 °C.

Suitable for USB equipment, power supply circuits and other general electronic equipment, the device contains no lead, can be mounted with lead-free solder and is applicable for reflow soldering at 260 °C. The thermistor also features Ni internal electrode and high thermal stability and reliability.
