Monolithic Announces BCD Plus™ Process Breakthrough
Monolithic Power Systems Inc. announced a "breakthrough" product in terms of power, functionality and size, developed using its BCD Plus™ process technology. MP2360, a 24V, 1.8A, non-synchronous step-down regulator, is packaged in a tiny 2mm x 2mm QFN8. The 1.4MHz operating frequency minimizes the size of external components resulting in what is claimed to be the smallest overall footprint in its class.
The MP2360 operates from an input voltage between 4.5V - 24V with operating efficiency in excess of 90%. An externally adjustable output voltage range of 0.8V - 15V makes the MP2360 suitable for a wide variety of applications ranging from broadband communications equipment to digital entertainment systems. Protection features include current limit, thermal shutdown and undervoltage lockout.
Samples and evaluation boards are in stock now. Pricing for the MP2360 begins at $1.56 in 1K piece quantities.
