Micrel Semiconductor Debuts MIC49300 LDO
Micrel Semiconductor Inc. (San Jose, CA), a leader in power management and high-speed communications integrated circuits, announced its new MIC49300 ultra-low output voltage, high-current, low-dropout regulator (LDO), which provides a well-regulated supply for next-generation processor cores.
The MIC49300 LDO offers a 3A output current and a 0.9V output-voltage capability; requires only 400mV dropout voltage under worst case conditions to maintain proper regulation; supports an input voltage as low as 1.4V, allowing for high-efficiency conversion from low-voltage, high-current power rails; and features thermal shutdown, current limit protection and uCap stability. As a uCap regulator, the MIC49300 only requires a 1µF ceramic output capacitor for stability and is highly tolerant of any capacitance used on its output.
Available in Micrel's new high-performance, S-Pak, five-lead package, the MIC49300 is priced at $2.60 when purchased in quantities of 1,000. Samples are available now, and production quantities are stock to eight weeks ARO.
