Maxim Presents MAX1830/31 DC/DC Power Supply ICs
Maxim Integrated Products (Sunnyvale, CA) announced its new MAX1830/31 3A dc/dc power supply ICs, with internal switches, that are suitable for high-efficiency portable applications. They integrate 0.05 ohms internal p-channel MOSFET power switches and n-channel synchronous rectifiers, minimizing external components and improving efficiency up to 95 percent.
The chips feature a programmable constant-off-time, current-mode PWM control scheme with switching frequencies up to 1MHz. This scheme includes a unique "idle mode" PFM mode to maintain high efficiency in light-load operation. The MAX1830 produces a preset 2.5V, 1.8V or 1.5V output, or an adjustable 1.1V to Vin output voltage. The MAX1831 produces a preset 3.3V, 2.5V or 1.5V output, or an adjustable 1.1V to Vin output voltage. The input voltage ranges from 3V to 5.5V. Other features include ±1.5-percent output accuracy, adjustable soft-start for limiting inrush current, 0.55mA (typical) supply current, and <1µA shutdown supply current.
The MAX1830/31 are offered in space-saving 16-pin QSOPs, and are screened for the extended industrial temperature range from -40 to +85 degrees C. Pricing is from $4.59 in quantities of 1,000.
