June 24, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Magnetek Inc. (Chatsworth, CA), a leading manufacturer of power conditioners for commercial fuel cells, unveiled a number of new power systems for telecommunications applications, which are designed specifically to cut costs, save time and ensure reliability for today's telecom service providers. The Spectrum MPE7630 power backup system, the Spectrum MPE7566 enclosure, Spectrum MPE5224 enclosure system for routing and switching equipment, and the Spectrum MPE2124 pole-mount enclosure for DSL applications.

Meeting ASTM D4169 Transportation and Handling requirements, the new Spectrum MPE7630 power backup system is the first of its kind capable of being shipped factory-loaded with batteries, saving on-site battery installation time and cost. Complete with climate control, the rugged system is certified to Telcordia standards for operation in earthquake-prone (Zone 4) areas. It provides extended battery backup capacity, supplemental dc power and battery recharge, ensuring uninterrupted service in the event of power outages.

Another new system is the Spectrum MPE7566 enclosure, which affords a flexible, pre-engineered solution for fiber-optic networks. Suitable for fiber-to-the-home deployment, its dual swing-out equipment racks, each with 35 mounting spaces, accommodate a variety of fiber termination and switching equipment, as well as other electronics. In addition, it can be factory-equipped with customer-specified options such as dc power, monitoring and control capabilities, and battery backup in a single, compact, climate-controlled package.
