Magnetek Releases HEHB-70A Series Converter

New Products Oct 13, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

The Power Electronics Group of Magnetek Inc. (Chatsworth, CA), a leading manufacturer of power conditioners for commercial fuel cells, announced the release of its 70A, dc/dc converter, HEHB-70A Series in an industry-standard, half-brick, "true" open-frame package. The HEHB-70A Series delivers 70A at efficiencies as high as 90% at high-current/low-voltage outputs required by next-generation semiconductors used in telecom and data processing applications.

The true single-board, open-frame packaging and synchronous rectification results in optimal thermal performance and low power dissipation providing high-current density at elevated temperatures, >50°C. The single-output converters can handle input voltages from 36Vdc to 75Vdc with output voltages available in 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V in accordance with ETSI specifications. In addition, the new half brick has an optional parallel feature to take advantage of its load-share feature, delivering greater output scalability as well as balanced load sharing.

Evaluation units of the new models are available in two weeks, with production quantities available eight weeks ARO. Pricing for the HEHB-70A Series is $99 in OEM quantities.
