Magnetek Debuts HEQB Family of DC/DC Converters

New Products Sep 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Magnetek Inc. (Los Angeles, CA) introduced a family of high-efficiency quarter-brick (HEQB) dc/dc converters with output voltages of 5V, 3.3V, 2.5V and 1.8V at currents of 25A, 20A and 15A.

Magnetek's new quarter bricks employ a flexible, scalable topology that ensures superior performance and reliability, according to the company. With power densities peaking at 76W per cubic inch for the 5V at 20A model, they deliver efficiencies ranging from 88 to 92 percent, depending on the model. Low power losses allow low-profile (0.4in total cross-section), open-frame construction that does not require heatsinks and maximizes thermal derating characteristics.

Samples of the new dc/dc power converters are available for customer testing, as well as in production volumes from MagneTek's ISO-9001 certified manufacturing facilities in the US and Europe.
