Lucent Announces the Austin Lite Power Module Series

August 27, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Lucent Technologies (Murray Hill, NJ) announced its Austin Lite Power Module Series, a new product in Lucent's original Austin Series dc/dc point-of-load surface-mountable power modules. Austin Lite comes in a 5A to 6A module with 3.3V input (1.5V, 2.0V or 2.5V output) or with 5V input (1.8V, 2.5V or 3.3V output). The Austin Lite's efficiency has been rated as high as 88 percent depending on input voltage.

"Austin Lite provides a reliable and cost-efficient solution for powering DSPs in applications such as wireless base stations, servers, personal computers, and optical and data networking equipment. Austin Lite gives customers the right level of surface-mountable power for point-of-load applications where space and height concerns are an issue, all at a lower price than other comparable modules," commented Bharat Modh, technical marketing engineer at Lucent Tech. "At only 5.46mm in height, Austin Lite modules fit on a board where other products can't."

Austin Lite is priced at $12.25 per unit in quantities of 1,000. Austin Lite samples are available now, and customers can place orders immediately. Also in the news, Lucent announced plans to sell the Power Systems business as part of an ongoing effort to sharpen its focus on its core business-communications networking and providing Internet infrastructure. Lucent expects to identify a buyer within six months of the announcement.
