Linear Technology Intros LTC6101 Amplifier
Linear Technology Corp. (LTC, Milpitas, CA) introduced its LTC6101 high-side current-sense amplifier, which combines quick response times with an input-voltage range of 4 V to 60 V. The LTC6101 can withstand voltages up to 70 V. With a response time under 1 µusec, the LTC6101 is suitable for automatic power shutdown under fault conditions.
The LTC6101 is designed to extract a small differential signal from a high common-mode voltage, and then amplify and translate this into a ground-referenced signal. The LTC6101 requires only the LTC6101 ThinSOT™ package and two resistors, consuming only 250 µA and offering an input bias current of 170 nA (maximum) and an input-offset voltage of 300 µV (maximum). Better than 1% accuracy can be achieved using precision gain resistors.
The LTC6101 is now in full production, with prices starting at $1.04 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
