Linear Technology Intros LT1945 DC/DC Converter

New Products Nov 11, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. (Milpitas, CA) introduced the LT1945, a dual dc/dc converter that features both positive and negative high-voltage outputs (34V). Each converter switch has a 350mA current limit and an input-voltage range of 1.2V to 15V, making the device suitable for a variety of applications that require "split rail" operating voltages.

Both converter switches have a quiescent current of only 20µA at no load, which is further reduced to 0.5µA in shutdown. A current-limited fixed off-time control scheme provides high efficiency over a wide range of output current.

The 36V internal switch allows output voltages of up to 34V to be easily generated. The fixed off-time of 400ns permits the use of tiny, low-profile inductors and capacitors to minimize the footprint and cost in space-conscious portable applications.

The LT1945 is priced from $2.06 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
