Lambda Presents ZWD Series Dual-Output Power Supplies

November 01, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (San Diego, CA) introduced a new family of dual-output power supplies that can deliver 200% of the nominal current rating for up to 10 seconds. The 5 V and 24 V ZWD Series supplies are suitable for powering motors, solenoids and printers where 24 V peak-current demand is needed for a short duration.

The units are available with a 5 V, 5 A output for powering logic and auxiliary power circuits and a 24 V output that can deliver a peak current of up to 18 A. Remote on/off of just the 24 V output is possible using a closed contact or jumper. Cooled at 50 °C, the ZWD100PAF can deliver continuous 100 W convection and 196 W peak, the ZWD150PAF yields 150 W convection and 294 W peak, and the ZWD225PAF delivers 225 W convection with a peak of 440 W.

All three basic models accept a wide range of input voltages – from 85 Vac to 265 Vac – and contain active power-factor correction circuitry to meet EN61000-3-2 standards. Three different mechanical configurations are offered – open-frame, L-bracket or fully enclosed – with the units measuring 2.95 in x 1.38 in x 8.74 in (ZWD100PAF), 3.35 in x 1.57 in x 8.74 in (ZWD150PAF) and 3.74 in x 1.77 in x 8.74 in (ZWD225PAF) in the open-frame package. The supplies are available with Molex, JST or screw-terminal connections. In addition to EN61000-3-2, the new power supplies meet EN61000-4-X immunity and Class B EMI standards. They are also safety approved to UL60950, CSA60950, EN60950 and EN50178 specifications and are CE marked.

The ZWD100PAF, ZWD150PAF and ZWD225PAF are available now, with prices starting at $94 in single-unit quantities.
