Lambda Intros New DPP Family of Power Supplies

New Products Apr 17, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (San Diego, CA) introduced its new DPP family of DIN rail-mount power supplies, available with a choice of 5 V, 12 V, 15 V, 24 V and 48 V outputs. The low-power DPP Series is specifically designed for light industrial applications such as chemical processing, automotive and instrumentation.

The new DPP Series consists of eight models – enclosed in rugged plastic cases – in three package sizes. The DPP15 can provide 15 W of power in 2.95 in x 0.9 in x 3.81 in, the DPP30-50 can provide up to 50 W in a 2.95 in x 1.77 in x 3.58 in package, and the DPP100 can provide up to 100 W in a 2.95 in x 2.86 in x 3.81 in package. Each model can operate worldwide without the need for pre-selecting the ac-input range. The DPP15-50 models can accept a broad range of 85 Vac to 264 Vac, the DPP100 model automatically selects between 85 Vac to 132 Vac and 176 Vac to 264 Vac, and all models can accept a dc-input voltage.

The new power supplies feature a low ripple and noise of up to 50 mV, and are protected against overload and over-voltage conditions. All models are approved to UL508, UL60950 and EN60950 specifications. The units are convection cooled and can operate at full power over a wide temperature range of -10 °C to +60 °C, derating linearly at 5% of a degree above 60 °C to 71 °C. The DPP family is available now, with prices starting at $40 in single-unit quantities.
