Lambda Adds 450W DC-DC Converters for Wireless RF Amplifiers
Lambda has launched a new series of 450W pcb-mount dc-dc converters for use primarily in next-generation RF power amplifiers employed in wireless base stations, cell repeaters and mobile communications systems. Specifically designed to meet the many challenges these applications present, the compact PAH450S series modules are said to be able to endure extreme ambient temperature swings, enable low heat dissipation, and provide a wide output adjustment for optimum amplifier performance.
The PAH450S dc-dc converters have an industry-standard half-brick footprint (2.4 x 2.28 x 0.5 inches), deliver 450W at efficiencies up to 92%, and operate from a wide input voltage range of 36 to 76Vdc. Units are available with a nominal output of 28V (adjustable from 16.8 to 33V) or 48V (adjustable from 28.8 to 57.6V).
The converters can operate at full power with a baseplate temperature ranging from -40 to +100°C and feature threaded inserts to allow cooling via a cold plate or standard heat sinks. Other features include overcurrent and overvoltage protection and remote on/off control. The units are safety-approved to UL/CSA/EN60950-1, are EMI shielded, and carry the CE mark.
The PAH450S series dc-dc converters are available now, with prices starting at $116 each in 100-unit quantities.
