May 02, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Joyin Co. Ltd. (Taiwan) released its JMV line of multi-layer chip varistors that are suitable for transient voltage suppression. The devices are available in 1005 (0402), 1608 (0603), 2012 (0805) or 3216 (1206) footprints. The E Series has a working voltage of 17 Vdc, breakdown voltage of 21.6 V to 32.4 V, clamping voltage of 52 V, peak current of 2 A, and transient energy of 50 mJ.

The devices feature improved response time and have a capacitance of 15 pF to 30 pF (typical). The chip varistors are suitable for protection in driver ICs, transistors, telecom transients and automotive circuits.
