IR Presents New iP2002 Integrated Power Block

New Products May 01, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

International Rectifier Corp. (IR, El Segundo, CA) introduced its new iP2002, an integrated power block that enables a four-phase, 120A, synchronous buck converter switching at 1MHz per phase with up to 82.5% full load efficiency. The iP2002 is upward compatible to IR’s iP2001. The iP2002 improves power loss up to 20% compared to the iP2001.

The new iP2002 is designed for single and multi-phase converters with up to 12V distributed power rails, used for powering high-current CPUs and ASICs in computing and telecommunications systems. The iP2002 expands the iPOWIR™ line of functional building blocks that simplify power system design. Significant improvements in the iP2002 performance have been achieved through both power loss reduction and package thermal improvements, which now enables up to 30A continuous output current at 1MHz in a 11mm x 11mm x 2.6mm footprint.

The new iP2002 is available immediately. Pricing is $7.74 each in 1,000-unit quantities.
