IR Debuts IRISMPS5 Power Supply Reference Design

International Rectifier Corp. (IR, El Segundo, CA) announced its new IRISMPS5 flyback power supply reference design for the IRIS4015 integrated switcher. The reference design is a universal input, 15 V/6 A output, ac-dc power supply that can streamline switch-mode power supply designs used in products such as LCD monitors, CD/DVD players, fax machines, printers and set-top boxes.

The IRIS Series integrated switchers combine a low-loss, fully characterized, avalanche energy HEXFET power MOSFET with a dual-mode voltage and current-control IC in a single package. Stray inductance from the PCB and discrete packages is reduced, delivering lower switching losses at higher frequencies. In-circuit testing demonstrates that IRIS Series integrated switchers improve efficiency by up to 1.5% compared to a discrete solution with equivalent MOSFET ratings, and up to 4.5% compared to competitive devices with equivalent ratings.
