IR Announces Extension to Its HEXFET Power MOSFETs

September 03, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

International Rectifier (IR, El Segundo, CA) announced an extension to its highly successful line of 20V HEXFET power MOSFETs. The 10 new devices are designed for 12V single input and multi-phase buck converters for desktop motherboards using next-generation, GHz-class microprocessors.

The new 20V, IRL3714 and IRL3715 MOSFETs are manufactured using IR's rugged stripe planar technology, and are designed to replace more expensive 30V devices. By optimizing device parameters such as RDS(on), QGD, QG and COSS, IR's new MOSFETs minimize conduction, switching, driver and output losses in 12V input synchronous-buck converter applications. The IRF3714 Series is designed for optimal performance in the synchronous FET socket while the IRF3715 Series is designed for optimal performance in the control FET socket.

The new MOSFETs are an extension of IR's IRL3704 and IRL3711 Series and come in a variety of surface-mount and through-hole packages offering the designer several options, depending on circuit design and layout constraints.

The devices are available for production now. Pricing in 10,000-piece quantities for US delivery starts from $0.22 each.
