Intersil Intros Endura ISL6740/6741 PWM Controllers

November 20, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Intersil Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced its new Endura™ ISL6740 and ISL6741 double-ended, pulse-width modulated (PWM) controllers, which are designed to improve performance while reducing system costs for telecom and datacom power supplies. The ICs offer greatly reduced bill of materials costs, high-speed operation and an advanced feature set.

The ISL6740 and ISL6741 are designed for medium-power to high-power (>50W) telecom dc/dc conversion applications such as the popular eighth-brick and quarter-brick power modules that are used throughout communications infrastructure equipment. The ISL6740 is a voltage-mode PWM controller for use in isolated half-bridge and open-loop bus converter applications. The ISL6741 is pin-compatible with the ISL6740 and supports peak-current-mode control for isolated push-pull and hard-switched, full-bridge power supplies.

The ISL6740 and ISL6741 are available now. Pricing for each IC in 1,000-unit quantities is $1.86 for the SOIC package (ISL6740IB-T, ISL6741IB-T) and $1.95 for the TSSOP package (ISL6740IV-T, ISL6741IV-T) on tape-and-reel.
