Intersil Debuts New ISL3985 Power Amplifier
Intersil Corp. (Irvine, CA) unveiled its 2.4GHz ISL3985 power amplifier, which provides a typical output power of 21dBm and 28dB overall two-stage power gain that allows the device to increase its range by up to 15 percent and double the data throughput at maximum range. The device is designed to work with the company's PRISM WLAN chipset solutions and is suitable for current Wi-Fi and IEEE 802.11g products.
The 16-pad, 5mm x 5mm, QFN device operates from a 2.7V to 3.6V single supply and features a built-in 15dB detector with ±1dB accuracy. The two-stage RF power amplifier is claimed to exceed adjacent-channel, power-ratio specifications with <-30dBc for the first side lobe and <-50dBc for the second side lobe. The device also features a sleep-mode function that eliminates external circuitry.
