Integration Associates Announces New LED Driver for Camera Phones

Integration Associates Inc. announced the launch of the IA2521 Camera Flash LED Driver, an enhanced performance, low cost power conversion IC. Using only a 1.5µH inductor, the IA2521 is claimed to provide the highest efficiency of any device currently in the market, and optimal for next generation Camera Phone, Digital Camera, and PDA applications worldwide. IA2521 will facilitate brighter flashes, enabling higher quality pictures.

The IA2521 Camera Flash LED Driver features a Buck-boost converter for LED camera flash, separate flash light and flash modes, and provides up to 4W of output power. Full flash brightness is reached as quickly as a xenon tube. The IA2521 incorporates spread-spectrum switching to minimize EMI, is self-protected against open-string conditions and thermal overloads, and is available in a 3x3 QFN or MSOP-8 package.

Commenting on the launch, Scott Parker, VP of Sales and Marketing stated, "With the IA2521, Integration deploys a similar strategy in the dc-dc arena to that offered via the EZSwitcher™ family of ac-dc converters — added benefit to the OEM through reduced BOM cost and increased functional integration."

The IA2521 IC is priced at $.90 each (USD) in quantities of 1,000 units.
