HiTek Power Intros S Series High-Voltage Power Supply

July 22, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

HiTek Power (Santee, CA) introduced its new S Series subminiature, high-voltage, solid-state, power supply, which is suitable in a variety of compact, hand-held, portable and battery-operated devices such as electrostatic air cleaners, chemical atomizers, backlight bias supplies and other scientific, medical, industrial and consumer electronics equipment.

Designed as single- or dual-inline packages for either stand-alone applications or installation on a motherboard, the S Series measures 0.75in x 2in x 0.25in and weighs 1oz. The S Series is produced by fully automated, surface-mount, device production methods and can be surface mounted to a printed circuit board. The S Series is capable of outputs up to ±8kV at 1W or less, with a third fixed output of up to 200V at 1W available as an option. The new power supplies are also available with fixed or adjustable outputs, the adjustable units programmed by voltage input, typically 0V to 3V for full output. The power supplies have an input-voltage range of 3.6V to 15V in four subranges; a single- or dual-output high voltage of up to ±12KV with output power up to 1W; output voltage fixed or remotely adjustable to -30 percent of the nominal voltage; and output regulation better than one percent.

The HiTek S Series power supply is priced at less than $32, in OEM quantities, and comes with a one-year warranty. Availability is stock to 14 weeks.
