High-Temp Radial Aluminum Capacitors

New Products Jun 16, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today introduced a new series of Automotive Grade radial aluminum capacitors that features high-temperature operation up to +150 degrees C and a useful life to 2,000 hours at +150 degrees C to provide high stability and reliability for automotive and industrial applications.

The Vishay BCcomponents 160 RLA series is available in 10 case sizes from 10mm by 12mm to 18mm by 35mm. For enhanced reliability, the AEC-Q200-qualified capacitors offer very low impedance down to 23mΩ at 100kHz, a high rated ripple current to 2,000mA at +150 degrees C, and a capacitance range from 33µF to 3300µF over a voltage range of 16V to 50V.

As polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors with non-solid electrolytes, self-healing dielectrics, and radial leads, the 160 RLA series devices are ideally specified for smoothing, filtering, and buffering in ac-dc power supplies and dc-dc converters. The RoHS-compliant capacitors feature a cylindrical aluminum case with pressure relief — insulated with a blue PET sleeve — and are charge- and discharge-proof, so there is no peak current limitation.

Samples and production quantities of the 160 RLA series are available now, with lead times of six to eight weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery ranges from $0.30 to $1.90 per piece.
