Gresham Power Intros the New Niky UPS

July 17, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Gresham Power (Salisbury) introduced its new ultra-compact UPS, the Niky, with three models that are available at power ratings of 400VA, 600VA and 850VA. All three models employ line-interactive protection technology, which offers comprehensive power protection at a low cost. Targeted for the small office/home office market the Niky UPS is designed to protect PCs, fax machines, printers and networked workstations, as well as game consoles, home portals, hi-fi and home cinema systems, and offers up to 12 minutes autonomy at 50% load.

Fully protected mains power is available from two standard IEC connectors while a third outlet with anti-disturbance filtering is provided for less critical or high-power loads. In the event of an overload of the output, a monitoring circuit will activate alarm signals, an audible warning and LED indicator, and will automatically shut down the UPS by activating a re-settable circuit breaker. This prevents any internal damage and will allow the user to adjust the load and re-set the UPS without having to carry out any maintenance such as changing fuses.

The Niky will operate over the input-voltage range 160Vac to 280Vac and provides 230Vac at the protected outputs. The operating efficiency is 98% and it will operate over a temperature range of 0°C to +40°C. The compact unit measures just 60mm x 190mm x 275mm, weighs less than 5kg, and meets the international standards EN50091-1-1, EN50091-2 and EN50091-3.

Prices start at £50.
