KEMET Corporation announced the addition of High-Voltage C0G multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) to its Flexible Termination (FT-CAP) product portfolio. The HV C0G FT-CAP is designed for a broad range of high-voltage applications in which high volumetric efficiency and resistance to thermal and board stress are critical. KEMET's Flexible Termination system utilizes a conductive epoxy in order to establish pliability while maintaining terminal strength, solderability and electrical performance. The epoxy inhibits the transfer of board stress to the MLCC body which reduces the potential for internal cracking that results in low IR or short circuit failures.

"KEMET's High-Voltage C0G capacitors feature a robust and proprietary base metal dielectric system that offers industry-leading performance, higher effective capacitance and exceptional capacitance stability up to 125 degrees C," stated Reggie Phillips, Product Manager for Specialty Ceramics. "For high voltage applications up to 3,000 Vdc, our Flexible Termination technology is an ideal and proven solution for minimizing the risk of damage to the capacitor when potentially mishandled or exposed to extreme environmental conditions such as thermal cycling."

HV C0G FT-CAP devices exhibit low ESR at high frequencies and find conventional use as snubbers or filters in applications such as switching power supplies and lighting ballasts. Exceptional performance at high frequencies has made high voltage multilayer ceramic capacitors the preferred dielectric choice of design engineers worldwide. In addition to use in power supplies, these capacitors are widely used in industries related to automotive (hybrid), telecommunications, medical, defense, aerospace, semiconductors and test/diagnostic equipment.

This enhanced product line is lead-free, RoHS and REACH compliant, and is suited for a variety of applications requiring proven, reliable performance. In addition to Commercial Grade, Automotive Grade devices are also available for mission and safety critical circuits requiring stricter testing protocol and inspection criteria. Tin/lead termination is available on request.
