Freescale’s Dual-Output IC Supports 10A and 2A Loads
Freescale Semiconductor has introduced the third edition of QUICCsupply power management integrated circuits (ICs). The MC34703 integrates system power functions into a single small package, making it an all-in-one plug-and-play product for PowerQUICC III and other communications processors for telecom and networking applications.
Manufactured with Freescale's proprietary SMARTMOS™ process, QUICCsupply ICs include key features such as power sequencing, voltage margining, system protection, programmable output, reset and watchdog functions. The MC34703 dual output power supply IC has a 10A synchronous buck converter with integrated high-current low-Rds(on), and a low dropout controller that works with a choice of external MOSFETs.
For applications ranging from telecom and network cards to industrial controllers, the MC34703's innovative integration of logic and power minimizes the need for external components, which reduces the board space required by up to 50 percent and supports switching speeds up to 400kHz.
The MC34703 QUICCsupply 3 power IC is currently available in production quantities at a suggested resale price of $3.75 in 10,000-piece quantities.
