Fairchild Introduces New Family of 4.5-20V of Load Switches

July 02, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor announced the FPF250X series, a new family of IntelliMAX™ devices with input voltages ranging from 4.5 up to 20V. These highly integrated load switches provide full protection against potentially damaging overcurrent conditions affecting low-power designs including industrial, telecom, medical, notebook and consumer applications.

The FPF250X devices are said to simplify design, reduce component count and minimize board space by integrating a 0.23Ω current-limited N-channel MOSFET with protection and control features such as thermal shutdown, controlled turn-on and undervoltage lockout, into a space-saving SOT-23 package. Available in either adjustable or fixed current-limiting options, the FPF250X series is said to offer design flexibility while minimizing circuit tuning and troubleshooting, accelerating time to market in numerous power management and circuit protection applications.

"Fairchild’s new FPF250X series IntelliMAX load switches in SOT-23 packages offer designers greater flexibility and more protection options compared to conventional discrete solutions," said Chris Winkler Marketing Director, Low-Voltage Power Segment. "By broadening its IntelliMAX portfolio to cover applications in the 4.5 to 20V input voltage range, Fairchild now offers designers more device choices that can be tailored to their particular application."

The products are lead-free (Pb-free) and meet or exceed the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020B and are compliant with the European Union requirements that are now in effect.
