EnerSys Presents New 12V165F VRLA Battery

March 20, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

The Reserve Power Group of EnerSys Inc. (Reading, PA) released a new increased, power-to-size, front-terminal, valve-regulated, lead-acid (VRLA) battery, the 12V165F, which through grid and plate optimization offers an increased capacity to 165Ah, providing more power in the same standard footprint as the previous 12V155AH model. Additionally, the 12V165F costs the same as its predecessor, and the new battery provides better value and improved return on investment.

The new 12V165F is an extension of EnerSys’ PowerSafe V range of front-terminal VRLA batteries, suitable for applications that require high power in a limited space, such as telecommunications, electric utility/switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies and rail signal applications. The unit's compact monobloc design and standard footprint make the product suitable for 23in racks and enables increased energy density. The use of gas recombination technology reduces storage requirements and maintenance costs by eliminating the need for regular watering intervals and by producing a minimal level of gas evolution in the battery.

Additionally, the 12V165’s front-terminal connections provide easy, front access to the battery’s electrical connections, making installation, inspection and maintenance simpler and quicker. The terminals feature brass inserts, offering maximum conductivity with a high-compression grommet, ensuring prolonged product life. The new 12V165F has a capacity of 165Ah at the eight-hour rate to 1.75Vpc at 20°C (68°F), and a design life of 15 years.

Pricing for the new 12V165F starts at $460. Delivery is in one to two weeks ARO.
