EnerSys Launches the PHX12-475 Addition to Its Phoenix Battery Line

July 23, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

EnerSys Inc. (Reading, PA) has launched an addition to its line of Phoenix batteries that is claimed to increase performance up to eight percent at the 15-minute rate over batteries with the same footprint. The PHX12-475, a valve-regulated lead-tin battery designed for high-rate applications, uses absorbent glass mat technology to retain acid between plates and enhance battery cyclability during normal UPS application. It is suitable for use in remote sites and outside plant applications.

The PHX12-475 incorporates several new enhancements, such as recessed terminals and brass inserts. The 12V, 475 WPC-rated battery retains the same size as previous models. Its gas-recombination technology eliminates the need for a special battery room. In fact, the battery requires no venting under normal operating conditions and can be installed close to sensitive electronics.

The PHX12-475 is available in pre-wired cabinets or traditional racks. It can also be engineered into the electronics that it supports. The sealed, leak-proof construction eliminates the need for watering and allows the battery to be installed on its side.

The PHX12-475 comes with a flame-retardant, polypropylene housing. Pricing is $376 each, with delivery in 48 hours ARO.
