EnerSys Introduces Odyssey PC 2150 VRLA Battery

December 27, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Odyssey Batteries of EnerSys Inc.'s (Reading, PA) EnerSys Reserve Power Group introduced a new group 31-size, deep-cycle, sealed, valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery, which provides a service life three to four times longer than typical wet-cell batteries. The military-grade Odyssey PC 2150 battery provides up to 70% more starting power at low temperatures, making it suitable for heavy-duty, deep-cycle applications such as road trucks, fire trucks, buses, construction equipment and refrigerated trailers.

Using pure-lead technology, the Odyssey PC 2150 lasts up to 10 years in operation compared to two or three years with similar batteries. It has starting power up to 12 months in storage, and a two-year storage life at room temperature. Additionally, the battery’s thin-plate technology provides greater cranking power, especially effective at cold temperatures. The Odyssey PC 2150’s sealed dry-cell construction prevents external venting, which eliminates terminal corrosion and results in high charge acceptance, increasing a vehicle’s alternator and starter lifespan.
