EMCO High Voltage Releases Power Option for CA Series

October 07, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

EMCO High Voltage Corp. (Sutter Creek, CA) released a new 5 V input power option for the miniature, precision-regulated, CA Series. The feature will allow designers with 5 V circuits to eliminate the need for a secondary 12 V or 24 V output power source.

The new CA Series offers improvements in performance and precision with other added features previously not available in a miniature PC-mountable package, i.e., ripple as low as 5 ppm peak-to-peak, temperature coefficient of less than 25 ppm/°C, an on-board precision reference, and a precision output-voltage monitor. Also included is 0% to 100% programmability, low EMI/RFI emissions and arc, and overload and short-circuit protection, all in a miniature-shielded case. Occupying 1in³ of volume and weighing less than 1.5 oz, the miniature supplies replace larger, more expensive power supplies in many applications.

Other new options include an extended operating temperature range of –55 °C to +70 °C, and a chassis mount kit that allows for easy prototyping and evaluation.
