Eltek Power System Cabinets Designed for Efficient Transport, Handling and Assembly

June 26, 2013 by Jeff Shepard

Eltek ASA has launched a new cabinet series that can be delivered with or without an integrated power system. The new Open Frame Cabinets (OFC) are complete, flat-packed systems that can be hand-carried to the site and assembled within minutes. They are designed for simplicity and to reduce logistics costs.

Traditional pre-assembled cabinets are bulky and heavy. The OFC measures 1300x600x600 mm fully assembled and 1425x622x130 mm for shipment, which means that seven complete OFC systems can be transported within the same physical space previously occupied by one pre-assembled cabinet. Each OFC can hold up to eight small DC power systems, including the Eltek Flatpack2, Flatpack S or Minipack, and are designed for indoor DC power applications such as telecom switching centers or data centers.

“With this compact design, we extend high efficiency to the logistics chain for our customers,” says Morten Schøyen, CMO at Eltek. “Reducing transportation and storage volume to a fraction of conventional systems has a positive impact on cost, as well as on speed and flexibility in network roll-outs.”

The core of the power system is still based on cutting-edge HE power conversion technology and can be added and integrated in the same packaging at different stages of the logistics process. Full flexibility is maintained, as final configurations can be done on site. The OFC solutions have patents pending.
