Elgar Announces ContinuousWave 2501M AC Power Source

May 15, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Elgar Electronics Corp. (San Diego, CA) announced the introduction of its ContinuousWave (CW) 2501M ac power source to complement its CW Series. Designed for testing single-phase equipment, the CW 2501M is intended to address the needs of developers and manufacturing engineers seeking a low-cost power source. The unit is suitable for use in research and development, and production, including margin testing, QA verification, avionics, marine and military applications.

With a power rating of 2,500VA, the CW 2501M's single-phase output frequency ranges from 45Hz to 500Hz. Switchable output voltage ranges are 0Vrms to 135Vrms, with a maximum current of 18.6Arms and 0Vrms to 270Vrms, with current up to 9.3Arms. LEDs indicate high- or low-range output voltage, fault and slave modes, voltage- or current- mode operation and output-on. Two CW units can be operated in parallel to achieve power ratings up to 5,000VA. Three CW chassis can also be field-configured to deliver three-phase or paralleled three-phase output power.

The CW 2501M features remote voltage sense capability. It can be operated in a bench-top or rack-mount configuration, and measures 3U high, 20" deep, and mounts in a standard 19" rack with rear panel output connections.

Prices for the CW 2501M start at $5,495. It is currently available, and all models have the CE mark, UL listing mark, and cUL listing mark.
