Direct Electronics Intros New Fusible Resistors

October 14, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Direct Electronics Tech Co. Ltd. (China) introduced a new series of fusible resistors that feature an insulation resistance of 1 gigaohm and an operating temperature range of -40 to +240 degrees C, making them suitable for use in voltage maintenance and overload protection applications found in TV receivers, battery chargers and CPU coolers.

The resistors are available in metal-film or carbon-film (FRN), wirewound (FKN), and cerment (FSQ) types, and act as resistors during normal conditions or as a fuse under fault conditions. Rated wattage is 0.25W to 3W for the FRN type, 1W to 6W for the FKM type, or 2W to 10W for the FSQ type. The resistance ranges from 0.22 ohm to 100 kiloohms (FRN), 0.1 ohm to 250 ohms (FKN), or 0.1 ohm to 500 ohms (FSQ). The resistors have a dielectric withstand voltage of 300V, 350V, 500V or 1kV.
